Our community is rich in tradition that affords the pleasantries of quiet country living, excellent schools, access to major highways and tollways, single family home on large lots, all complemented by our growing commercial and retail business district.

If you are just browsing or are looking for specific information, our site has much to offer. I hope you will enjoy the information we have provided. If there is something you wish to find out about our village, you may send specific questions to vilgrnoaks@aol.com for an appropriate reply.

2019 Road Improvement Project

This project is now underway!
  • Contractor: Peter Baker and Sons, Co
  • Res. Engineer: RHMG Engineers, Inc
  • Scope of Work: Milling, Pulverization, and Full Depth Reclamation with cement sterilizations along 8.26 miles of Village roads. Includes cross-road culvert replacement, curb repairs, and manhole adjustments
  • Location: 1. North of Rt 137  2. Rt 137 to Atkinson Rd  3. South of Atkinson Rd
  • Contract Time: 75 Working Days - September 2019 (Weather permitting)

Progress continues to be made on the 2019 Road Improvement Project. Updates for specific project areas are below:

Saddle Hill and Greenbrier Subdivisions – The first lift of asphalt has been placed on all streets and courts.  Peter Baker and Sons will shift their focus to concrete driveway removal and replacement and asphalt driveway removal over the next week (with asphalt driveway replacement to follow after the final asphalt layer has been placed).  Brick paver driveways will be re-set after placement of the final layer of asphalt.  Shouldering in the courts off Saddle Hill and Lexington has started and will continue the next week.

Pearson, Crest and Benson – Pulverization and cement stabilization are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday next week.  We anticipate that the cement stabilization process will occur within a day of the initial pulverization, if not the same day.  During cement stabilization, the contractor will spread powdered cement along the surface and mix it in using the pulverizing machine.  The road can be driven on after the cement has been mixed into the pulverized material, and the contractor will have traffic control and flaggers to route traffic.  Keeping windows closed during and after the pulverization and cement stabilization will reduce construction dust.

Margate/Hawthorn – Tree and brush removal along the west side of Hawthorn is scheduled for Monday.  The shoulders have been partially excavated and will be completed later Monday prior to pulverization, which is anticipated mid-week.  The contractor will patch the base after pulverization prior to installing the first lift of asphalt.

Forest Cove/Forest Lake – Curb replacements have been completed, with minor restoration to follow.  There are still a few minor outstanding items that need to be completed prior to milling, including a storm sewer repair along Old Rockland.  Baker is scheduling the milling (pavement removal), and there is not a firm date set yet.  The goal is to minimize the time between milling and paving to reduce dust and inconvenience.

Reigate Woods/Tantara – Curb replacement in Reigate is scheduled to start the week of July 22nd, with milling to follow in early August.

Hanlon Road – We do not anticipate work along Hanlon until August.

Thank you for your patience during construction & continuing to keep vehicle speeds down through the construction zones for everyone’s safety. Please remember to keep windows closed while work is in progress due to dusty conditions.
