Welcome to the Village of Green Oaks

IBernard Wysocki would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Green Oaks internet site. Hopefully our site will provide you with needed information about the village of Green Oaks. The Village of Green Oaks is a small and proud community approximately 30 miles north of O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois. Our community is rich in tradition that affords the pleasantries of quiet country living, excellent schools, access to major highways and tollways, single family home on large lots, all complemented by our growing commercial and retail business district.

If you are just browsing or are looking for specific information, our site has much to offer. I hope you will enjoy the information we have provided. If there is something you wish to find out about our village, you may send specific questions to vilgrnoaks@aol.com for an appropriate reply.

Sincerely,
Bernard Wysocki
Mayor of Green Oaks

Progress continues to be made on the 2019 Road Improvement Project. Updates for specific project areas are below:

Update as of 10/11/2019 at 2pm

Over the past week the contractor completed the binder layer of asphalt in Reigate Woods, south sections.  They also completed the driveway patches in Tantara, Reigate and Forest Cove, and the landscaping in Tantara and Forest Cove.  They also started working on punchlist items.

Saddle Hill, Greenbrier, Pearson/Crest/Benson, Margate/Hawthorn, Forest Lake/Forest Cove – All road work and the majority of the landscaping has been completed.  The contractor also started on the punchlist work, including brick and cobble driveways, as crews became available.  Landscaping behind the new curbs and the asphalt driveway patches were completed this week in Forest Lake/Forest Cove.  If you have any concerns regarding the work adjacent to your property, please let us know so that they may be addressed. We will be issuing the punchlist for this area on Friday, October 18th and need any issues identified by that time.  There will be a spring punchlist related to issues that arise over winter.

One additional question the Village has received is whether the netting on the straw blanket will need to be removed.  The netting will degrade over time and should not need to be removed.  The grass growth should be sufficient that mowing will not impact the netting.  If you must remove the netting, please wait at least one growing season so that removing the netting does not impact the new grass growth.

Reigate Woods – The contractor completed the first layer of asphalt last Saturday and this past Monday in the southern sections (Reigate Lane south of Braemore, and the six courts).  Most of the driveways throughout the subdivision that were impacted by curb replacement work have been repaired.  Additional curbs that spalled due to milling or that need to be adjusted to correct drainage issues will be replaced as soon the concrete crews have availability, hopefully next week, weather permitting.  After these concrete curb repairs are made, the landscaping and final surface layer of asphalt will follow throughout the subdivision, starting in the north sections.  If you have any concerns regarding the work adjacent to your property, please let us know so that they may be addressed.

In Reigate Woods, during installation of the surface layer, the asphalt will need to cool after rolling prior to being opened to traffic so as to not mar the surface.  Some driveway and side-street access will be limited near the paving operations for a few hours after placement to permit the asphalt time to cool.  The Village will send an announcement in advance of the surface layer of paving, and if you have any reason to need ingress/egress during the paving operations that can be coordinated in advance with Lisa.  We anticipate surface paving will be completed over a period of three days.

Tantara – The driveways and grassy areas that were impacted by the curb replacement work were patched and landscaped this week.  Milling is now scheduled for early next week; the crews were delayed this week.  Grading and paving will follow as soon as possible.  If you have any concerns regarding the work adjacent to your property, please let us know so that they may be addressed.

Hanlon/Guerin – Milling on Hanlon and Guerin, including the intersection of Guerin and O’Plaine, is scheduled for next week, in conjunction with the milling in Tantara, weather permitting.  The grading and paving of these areas will follow as soon as possible based on crew availability.

Herky Drive – Herky Drive located in the business district will be closed starting October 14th with an anticipated reopening on October 31st.  During this time vehicular access to Herky Drive will be detoured through the Bradley Road Extension at the signalized intersection of Route 176 and Bradley Road.

Thank you for your patience during construction & continuing to keep vehicle speeds down through the construction zones for everyone’s safety. Please remember to keep windows closed while work is in progress due to dusty conditions.
